Rosedale Bowls Club NewsThis year the Rosedale Bowls Club Men's Tour took place over the weekend of 16th - 18th August and games were played against teams in Oxfordshire.
22 bowlers, which included a number of regular guests from outside our club, travelled by luxury coach to our venues. The first game on Friday afternoon was played at Chipping Norton BC, which is situated in the green and pleasant countryside of the Cotswolds.
The Premier Inn in Witney was our hotel for the two nights where we enjoyed a full breakfast service each morning. In the evenings we took full advantage of the various hostelries in this small but vibrant town.
On Saturday morning we travelled just a few miles to our next game at Witney Town BC where we played a 15-end game before enjoying a pleasant lunch. We then moved on to our afternoon game at Woodstock BC. Our final game was on Sunday afternoon at KIdlington BC, where, after a friendly game, we enjoyed a full roast dinner.
All our games were played in bright sunshine, and we received great hospitality at every club we visited. The results were mixed, but all the games were played in great spirit. In keeping with tradition, the players on the worst loosing rink were required to wear our special headwear after their game - see the attached photos.
Fines master John Bishop had been keeping a close eye on our antics throughout the weekend and during the journey home fines were allocated and funds raised for charity. A sheet was circulated seeking preferences for a venue for 2025.
