Mens Tour 2022 - 19th to 21st August 2022

Rosedale Bowls Club - Bowls Tour - August 2021 - Kent and East Sussex - Itinerary and schedule:

This year the annual Rosedale Bowls Club men's tour involved visits to clubs in Hampshire and Wiltshire. 25 bowlers attended, many of whom have been touring with Rosedale BC for many years (40 years in one case).

On the Friday we played at Boscombe Cliff BC in Bournemouth, after enjoying a pleasant coach journey down into Hampshire, stopping for breakfast on the way. We stayed the two nights in a Premier Inn Hotel in Ringwood where we enjoyed fine breakfasts and evening meals.

On Saturday morning we played at Amesbury BC, near to Stonehenge in Wilshire and remained in that county to play at Downton BC in the afternoon.

Sunday morning, we left our hotel for Bournemouth, enjoying some free time in the seaside town before our game at Bournemouth bowls club in the afternoon.

At all four hosting clubs we were given a warm welcome and we enjoyed good greens, friendly games and great hospitality. Of course, we took full advantage of the bar facilities on offer at each venue. The weather was good. Our fortunes varied over the different games, but all games were played in a fun and friendly spirit. Of course, we had winning and losing rinks and as is tradition, the players on the worst losing rinks in each game had the pleasure of wearing our special hats (see photos). The top shot this year was Jim Djouma, amassing the most points over the four games.

During our journey home we were reminded of our numerous misdemeanours by our fines master, John Bishop and fined accordingly, raising funds towards our upcoming centenary year. It was generally agreed that this was a successful and enjoyable tour. Plans are already afoot for the next one in 2023, which will form part of our centenary year celebrations.
