About the Rosedale Bowls Club

Rosedale Bowls Club Badge

If you have never tried bowls or you have thought about trying the game, now is the time to visit Rosedale Bowls Club.

We are looking for new members to join our club, new bowlers or experienced are all welcome. Age is immaterial to the game of bowls, it can be enjoyed by everyone.

The club play games at all levels, from friendlies to National Level. All new bowlers are encouraged to take part in the friendlies. That is exactly what they are, a friendly game against another club, giving everyone practice of playing the game, and having a fun time too.

New bowlers will be given coaching by our friendly team and we have bowls that can be used while you try out the game. You can complete our online form, and we can arrange for one of our coaching team to accommodate a day and time to suit you.

Our club is situated within a quiet residential area, and boasts a new clubhouse, serving a wide range of drinks and lovely food. There is plenty of parking and changing rooms with lockers.

The club has six rinks. Maintenance of the green is looked after by members of the club, keeping our costs to a minimum and keeping our members fit and active too!

The bowls season runs from the April to September outdoors and during the winter months, we use the clubhouse to play short mat bowls. A fun and social game, keeping members in touch and having a drink together.

Spectators are always welcome, bring your family along to watch you play.

Games are played at various times, including some weekday afternoons, weekday evenings and at the weekends. Some games involve all men teams, some all ladies and some mixed.

Wednesday night is our club night, when members can get together at the club over a drink and discuss any games that they may wish to take part in. This summer, we are proposing to organise a friendly roll-up (practice game), on a Wednesday evening for anyone who wants to take part. A chance to meet other members and to develop your bowling skills and knowledge.

Once you have tried the game of bowls and realise what fun you will have, then it is time to kit yourself out. For our friendly games, we wear white trousers, a club shirt and bowls shoes. You can buy your own woods (there are plenty to buy second hand) or use the club woods while you decide which ones are best for you. We encourage all our members to practice whenever they can. If you are having a 'roll-up' (practice or fun game) during the day, you can wear your everyday clothes. If it is after 6pm, we ask that you wear grey trousers, and a white shirt or t-shirt.

In August, the men's section of the club organises a tour over three days. This is very popular, visiting various clubs around the country and playing friendly matches.
